Special Education is a planning process more than it is a program. While it is important to identify the needs of all students, Federal guidelines require identification of the disability label and a plan to assist students in their educational needs.
The purpose of special education in Harrison School District 2 is to support students in the attainment academic competencies, independence and healthy self esteems. To reach these goals, individual needs of students with disabilities are addressed through use of appropriate and effective educational practices. In addition, the District delivers services in accordance with legal and ethical standards established in federal, state, and local board of director’s rules and policies.
