Sand Creek Elementary students, parents, staff, and community work together to establish a nurturing, learning environment with high standards for all students in academics, social and creative areas.
Have you seen the Federal Impact Aid Form?
The State of Colorado has a number of federal properties that are exempt from certain local and state taxes. D2 loses tax revenue because these properties are not taxed. We are allowed to recoup some of these tax dollars when we have children whose parents serve in the military or are employed on federal property. Returning this form to your child's school helps support all students and the quality instruction they receive. Our goal for the Impact aid form is 100%, so please fill out the information and return it back to your school as soon as possible, regardless of where you work or live (on government property or not).
NEW CHANGES FOR THE 2014-2015 SCHOOL YEAR!
New Start & End Times for all schools
Boundary Changes that will affect Sand Creek Transportation
Established in 1996, Sand Creek Elementary School was named for the creek that we are located near. It was built to support the new housing developments being built in the area. Originally, there was a grant with the city to include a Family Center within the school, and while that partnership has ended, the extra space in the school building has been beneficial as our school population continues to grow. Part of our growing population has to do with the fact that we are located on the border of another school district, and our gorgeous school building attracts many families to Sand Creek.
Sand Creek Elementary is a traditional K-5 school with an average of 85 students in each grade level. Since the school was first built, we have also been home to preschool programs and a severe needs special education program. In addition to two Headstart preschool classrooms, we also have on Early Connections program for young children, and a before and after school daycare. Our school population also includes around 150 English Language Learners.
Our school has a very active PTCO (Parent Teacher Community Organization) and a large number of active VIP (Very Involved Parent) volunteers. Our PTCO runs yearly fundraisers for the school, which has helped Sand Creek in our efforts to get each classroom equipped with an interactive whiteboard, projector and document camera. In addition, wireless internet was installed throughout the building 2 years ago.
While our focus each and everyday is on the academic achievement of our students, and doing everything we can to ensure our students are on the path to being college and career ready, we also find ways to address other needs of our students. Last year we began a new partnership with LiveWell Colorado Springs, offering after school physical fitness classes for students, and establishing a School Health Team to address needs of both staff and students.
